Janie serves as Office Administrator at Xeratec, where she oversees a broad range of responsibilities including bookkeeping, accounting, marketing, public relations, and human resources. With a background in Communication and an MBA from Michigan Technological University, she brings a unique blend of organizational expertise and creative thinking to everything she does, keeping the team running smoothly and the business moving forward.
Janie began her professional journey at the University of Minnesota Crookston, where she earned her B.S. in Communication while competing as a collegiate basketball player. She went on to Michigan Technological University, where she continued playing basketball and pursued her MBA, building a strong foundation in both business and leadership. During her time at Michigan Tech, Janie gained valuable hands-on experience through internships with Steelhead Technologies as well as with Michigan Tech Athletics, where she served as a Graphic Design Intern, developing her creative and marketing skills in a real-world setting. Now, she has taken those experiences and brought them together in her role as Office Administrator at Xeratec. With a diverse skill set, a competitive drive, and a passion for creativity and collaboration, Janie is just getting started in what promises to be a dynamic and impactful career.
Outside of work, Janie is fueled by a deep sense of competition and a love for staying active with hikes, walks, and sports. She is deeply passionate about reading and writing and loves discussing her favorite books. And when summer finally arrives in Upper Michigan, what she looks forward to most is sauna swimming with friends and family in Lake Superior.
Janie is the seventh child in a family of 11. She learned how to get your voice heard from a young age and now she’s usually the loudest person in a room.
Janie has a talent for writing and has 12 published poems in various undergraduate journals.
Janie’s secret weapon is people. She has a natural ability to read a room, tune into the emotions of those around her, and make anyone feel at ease within minutes of meeting her. Whether she’s sparking a conversation with a stranger or bringing levity to a tough moment, her warmth and humor have a way of bringing people together. She understands that at the end of the day, every business is built on relationships, and she hopes to use that innate people sense to lift those around her and open doors that skill alone cannot.
